Ways To Curb Instagram Fidgeting.

Why should you spend 5-7 minutes of your precious time reading this post?

This post rants about the recent scenario faced by every breathing being. Insta-Insanity.  Moreover, it makes you aware of the science behind the addiction and voices the practical methods of curbing it.

This post will be extremely instrumental for the person wanting to get out of the internet's black hole. Yes, you guessed it correctly. It's social sites.

So, let's begin.

Everybody of us is becoming a slave to social platforms. By the day, it is becoming more and more difficult to unleash,  especially with the all-new features and hinging methodologies. On account of this, smart people are capitalising on human psychology and making it all-the-more addictive by the day. This is creating an unhealthy addiction.

This post will be a little specific and directed towards one of the most visited platforms: Instagram.

Yeahh!! the same Instagram that you have just minimised to read this post. No shame in accepting peeps. We all are guilty.

WHAT IS SO ADDICTIVE ABOUT INSTAGRAM?

Everybody of us talks about the addictive nature of Instagram. But barely anyone of us has paid heed to dig into the mechanism behind the addiction. The artful mechanism, which grabs one's attention and hooks them up.

I bumped into a blog post by INSTANOBEL, which suggested different grounds for addiction. I, personally, found some of them extremely amusing.

INSTANT REWARD:

When you take a photo and you look at it, it's not always worthy of sharing. But, Instagram provides you with an escape--Filters. Filters can be used to enhance the picture by miles, shunning the sub-standard dimension of the picture and making it qualify for the Insta- beauty queue.

GRATIFICATION:

After uploading this perfect photo, you desire for getting tantalising likes and comments. This makes you go on Instagram more frequently. Thus, hinging you forever.

RED COLOUR NOTIFICATION:

Ping!! Congo, a new notification for your picture. Red coloured heart for like. Red coloured comment box for comments. And, you open it to see, without a delay.

The much you would like to believe that the red colour is the favourite colour of  Instagram's operator, but sadly, it's not. There is meticulous science behind it. Red is one of the primary colours. It has an undertone of emergency which makes you stop after perceiving it. This is one of the reasons that traffic light has red light as "stop" indication. Umm... familiar enough.

HOW TO HAMMER THE ENTICING-INSTA USAGE?

In the day and age of social media, becoming hermit is quite difficult. But, limiting the usage is achievable.

These are some of my personal hacks for overcoming Insta-insanity.

SLAUGHTER THE APPLICATION, STRAIGHTAWAY.

This might sound a bit harsh. But, I can bet my life on this. Merely removing the application can reduce your fidgeting time by almost half.

Reason: You have your phone with you 24/7. The application lingers in front of your eyes. It is in the vicinity, giving you the option of instant access. Furthermore, notifications hasten up the process. If the application gets slaughtered, the problem of instant access would take a vacation.

TURN OFF THE BEWITCHING NOTIFICATIONS:

If the first one is a bit too much, then you might choose to take the path of turning off the notification. Yes, you heard me right. You do have the option to shun the notifications for any application on your smart gadget. You just have to make a small effort and go to-- settings --> app notification--> select app--> turn off the notification. High-five🙋!! Good job.

Reason: Notification is a gloomy mesh. Once you are inside it, there is no returning back. We all know that notification is a stark reminder of your absence on the application. It keeps poking you to get back to the application and glance over magnanimous life of your contemporaries. If you close it, the thought of application won't sit on the forefront.

BECOME MINDFUL ABOUT YOUR HEEDLESS ACTIVITIES:

I believe this methodology to be helpful for every other activity, and not just Insta- fidgeting. if you are mindful about the duration spent on insta, probability of fidgeting reduces.

Reason: Most of us crave for productivity, if not everybody. So, if you keep a track of your time and keep track of the distribution of time, you will not only limit the duration spent on insta but also elevate productivity.

CONCLUSION:

Social media, itself, is not bad. it keeps you updated, enhances your social skills, allows you to showcase your talent, helps you to network more and shoots up the opportunities. Achieving all these would have been extremely difficult had there been no social media. But, just because it renders a whole lot of goodies doesn't mean that it is benign. True devil is the heedless utilisation of these sites, and being unaware of the obsession. We have to become cognizant of the mindless utilisation. Only then can we release ourself from the insta-cuff.
